Outer Banks 2014- Day One
We took a very quick trip to the Outer Banks this past weekend for an interview Bryan had at the hospital in Nags Head.
We left on Thursday around 12:30 and arrived at the Outer Banks around 5. Before we actually got to the island we crossed over several bridges and sounds. It was all so pretty! Bryan took pictures for me with his iPhone.
The first thing we did after checking in and dropping our things off at our hotel was go to the beach. Our hotel was ocean front. I think it's been at least 9 years since either of us have been to the beach. I am not counting our cruise trips. This was Bryan's first time there and the last time I'd been was when I was 13. It wasn't anything like I remember it. It's built up with all kinds of shopping and restaurants. Not to mention all the historical things to do and see. One day was not even close to enough time but we made the best of it.
The beach was calm and beautiful. I absolutely love that these beaches are not crowded with high rises. Just homes and small hotels. Bryan was just in awe of everything. He loves how the beaches are but that out on Croatan Hwy there is plenty to do. We walked along the beach for a while and we picked up seashells.
For dinner I had done some research on where to eat. I knew we wanted seafood. We chose a place called Miller's Waterfront and boy were we not disappointed. The food was fabulous!
Bryan ordered the lobster roll and he said it was very good!
I ordered the all you can eat popcorn shrimp with smashed red potatoes and veggies. It was so good! I ate that plate and had another!
After we ate we were both miserably full so we went walking on the beach. We got back to our hotel around midnight and crashed!
