Christmas 2014

Being away from family this year wasn't easy especially with my Mom having cancer.  However, being at the beach really makes it more bearable.

On Christmas Eve we went to Jax Beach.  It started off a pretty day.  Temperatures were in the low 70s.  So we walked along the beach.  But typical Florida the rain clouds set in and it started pouring down rain.  All we could do was laugh.  That night for our Christmas Eve dinner we ate at The Cheesecake Factory in St. John’s Town Center.  It was so good!

On Christmas Day we woke up to no Christmas tree and no gifts and it was okay.  I didn’t depress us or make us feel it wasn’t Christmas.  Last time I checked Christmas isn’t about gifts or even a tree.  What better way to spend Christmas than to just make memories.  We spent the day in the oldest city in America, St. Augustine.  We had a great time.  We walked around the Castillo de San Marcos:

Walked across the Bridge of Lions:

Saw the El Galeon which is a replica of an old spanish tall ship:

we saw Flagler College:

The Alcazar Hotel:

We enjoyed the Nights of Lights and yelling Merry Christmas to the people riding in the trolleys:

It was truly a magical experience.  We ate Christmas dinner at Athena’s which is authentic Greek food.  Our first time eating Greek food and it was delicious.

All in all I couldn’t have asked for a better day.
