Vacation 2015- Day Four
On Wednesday we left Orlando and headed to Miami. Not being very familiar with the best way to get to Miami we took the Florida Turnpike which was a mistake. We ended up spending nearly $20 in tolls. What a pain! We got to Miami about 20 minutes until 1. We found our parking lot which left much to be desired. We wondered if we'd have a car to come back to. It received good reviews and if it wasn't for people saying not to worry I would have been worried. Our driver took us over to the Port of Miami and here is the first view of the ship.
We had our bon voyage picture taken then it was onto the ship!
We boarded the ship around 1330. This was our first time on the Disney Magic. She is their oldest ship but was reimagined last year. So she was like being on a fairly new ship. I kind of wish we could have seen her before she was redone but that's okay. Maybe we can hit Disney Wonder before she's reimagined. The first thing we did after dropping off our bags was tour the ship. She is much different than the Dream and the Fantasy. She doesn't have quite the wow factor o the newer ships but boy does she have her fans. We talked to multiple people that prefer the older ships over the newer ones. She is smaller and more quaint. Usually they are not full either we were told. Since this was Halloween on the High Seas and a double dip to Castaway Cay, she was completely booked. But not uncomfortably so. We had lunch in Cabana's then headed back to our room to see if our luggage had arrived.
Here is a view of Miami while in port.
One of our bags arrived early and it just happened to be the bag that had our stateroom decorations. It is common to decorate your stateroom door on a Disney cruise. This was our first year doing so and I am so glad that we did. We received many compliments and we also complimented our neighbors on theirs. Thanks to Etsy for these great magnets!
After decorating our door it was time for the Adventures Away! party. The gang all came out and put on a show.
We counted down, the horn blew (when you wish upon a star), and off we went. Here's a view of Miami Beach as we were leaving.
Dinner tonight was in Animator's Palate. It is the original AP. Much different from the newer ships. We loved it! It starts off in black and white and then it just comes to life.
We got a surprise visit from our favorite Sorcerer Mickey!
Dinner was good and our table mates are so nice! One couple was from Ohio and the other couple was from Idaho. I love how Disney makes sure to put couples together with no kids. For our appetizer we both had the Black Truffle Pasta Purseittes. For soups, Bryan had the Creamy Butternut Squash and I had the Baked Potato and Cheddar Cheese. For our meals, Bryan had the Herb Crusted Pork chop and I had the Ginger- Teriyaki dusted Angus Beef Sirloin. For dessert we both had the White Chocolate Brownie Cheesecake. Everything was delicious!
We had our pictures made this evening with Goofy and Minnie.
After dinner we walked around the pool deck and took pictures. Then it was bedtime. Tomorrow we dock at Castaway Cay!
