Vacation 2016- Day One
Our annual vacation this year was loaded with tons of fun! I booked us a 5 night vacation to Universal Studios with Halloween Horror Nights RIP pass. Our vacation actually started at Disney's Hollywood Studios. We couldn't check into our hotel until after 4 so we might as well have spent the day doing something fun. As annual pass holders we wanted to visit every park this year. I love Hollywood Studios and I am going to love it more when they add Star Wars Land and Cars Land.
Here we are at the entrance.
Our first ride of the day was Star Tours- The Adventure Continues. I have ridden this ride before when it was the old version. I am sad that Bryan didn't get to ride that version. The new one is good and we found out from a CM that there are actually 4 versions. We rode 2.
Here we are getting ready to head off into space.
March of the First Order was awesome!
Star Wars: A Galaxy Far Far Away was a really neat show.
We finally met up with Olaf!
The Hollywood Tower of Terror! Oh what can I say....this ride terrifies me. Bryan talks me into it every single time. I swear after getting off that thing I felt like I needed an appendectomy! As you can see I am the only one screaming for my life.
The highlight of my day was pictures with Chewbacca and Kylo Ren! We are not "new" Star Wars fans. We didn't jump on the bandwagon just because the new movies came out. I can honestly remember watching them as a small child and thinking Han Solo and Princess Leia were the most romantic thing that ever existed in Hollywood moviedom. I wanted to be Princess Leia so bad....LOL! And my favorite Star Wars movie is and always will be The Empire Strikes Back. Even the book was good.....yes I read it!
During the rest of our day at HS we rode Toy Story Mania and The Great Movie Ride. Unfortunately Rock 'n Roller Coaster was closed for maintenance. We watched Jedi Training: Trials of the Temple which is the little kiddos show where they can participate. We rode Star Tours one more time then had to call it an early night. We needed to get over to Universal to get checked in and ready for dinner.
We stayed at the Royal Pacific Resort which is actually the same hotel we stayed at 14 years ago when we came. It was still just as nice. We had a fabulous room with a bedroom, living room, and really nice bathroom. Bryan asked me how I managed to get such a nice room and I honestly have no idea. I don't know if it's because we are Florida residents or what. I could have sworn I booked a regular King room. We were definitely not complaining. We were also on the top floor.
Dinner tonight was at Emeril's at 2100. We went over to City Walk and took in the sights and walked around. Emerils is a place that we have been wanting to try. They opened one up in NC before we left and we said we were going to try it but never did.
Bryan and I shared a house salad.
Bryan ordered the sweet barbeque roasted salmon. He said it was really good.
I ordered the shrimp and grits. My food was good as well.
Our thoughts on Emerils was the food was good not fabulous but good. The wait staff seemed off putting to us. We were made to feel like we were a problem. Our meal was nearly $90 and maybe that's not high to some people but it is to us. This meal was not on our dining plan so we paid out of pocket. We just felt like for the money we should have been made to feel more welcome and that the staff could have been more friendly.
After dinner we headed over to the Toothsome Chocolate Emporium. This restaurant has not been open very long so we wanted to see all of these desserts that we had been hearing about. Well Bryan got the rice crispy shake and I got the red velvet shake. Let me just say I pretty much wasted mine. It was just too much. I ate and drank what I could but we would have been better off splitting one. Bryan's was less sweet and was way better than mine.
After our desserts we headed back to the hotel to relax and head to bed.
